Game Room Guys
Livonia, MI

Comstock Park, MI-based Game Room Guys have been in business since 2001. As their online sales have grown, they realized that supporting major metropolitan areas with physical showrooms would increase sales tremendously.

With a large vision and sights on several cities, Doug Wildey, owner, decided to enter the Detroit market first. They already had many existing customers there and opened a location in Livonia in a former golf-pro shop space in the summer of 2018.

Game Room Guys engaged r.o.i. Design to design the Livonia store which meant developing the sales floor layouts, selecting finishes and fixtures, creating graphics and signage, and providing merchandising consult.

Game Room Guys is another in r.o.i. Design’s retail store design portfolio where the formula of Budget-Brand-Beauty delivered a successful project.

Medema Endodontics

9039 N Rodgers Dr SE #4
Caledonia, MI 49316

Dr. Brent Medema’s attention to detail isn’t only focused on his patients’ teeth.

r.o.i. Design was introduced to Medema Endodontics through First Companies, who engaged us to design the interior of this space, which they then built-out and delivered in 2018. From that introduction we found a client who was interested in every aspect of the design, scrutinizing finishes and decisions, resulting in a wonderful product.

The clean look supports the surgical nature of the practice but isn’t so clinical that it ignores patient comforts.

Favorite details of the design include the lobby and reception ceiling and lighting details, the exam room corridor wall, and ceiling accent insets, as well as the overall color scheme.

Medema Endodontics is an expert practice with a focus on patient care, medical technology and continuous learning and practice improvements. For more about Medema Endodontics, medemaendo.com.

Wolverine Dermatology

1673 Gezon Pkwy SW
Wyoming, MI 49519

After 16 years of service in the United States Air Force, Dr. Ryan Freeland returned home to Michigan to open a dermatology practice with his sister, Kristen Tungate, as Practice Manager. Kristen leveraged Ryan’s love of the University of Michigan to influence his decision to name the practice Wolverine Dermatology and to use maize and blue as the basis for interior design.

The 7,500 square foot office was designed not only to reflect Dr. Freeland’s love of U of M but the state of Michigan as well. The Michigan-themed design includes an upscale lake house look complete with crisp white trim and nautical light fixtures. Other items include a stone wall inspired by Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and accents of actual Michigan Petoskey Stones. The site’s landscaping includes the Michigan State Tree, Eastern White Pines, and Michigan’s State Flower, Blossoming Apple Trees.

The architectural design was heavily influenced by bringing natural light through the entire space. This made for some interesting opportunities in ceiling and lighting details, including floating ceiling planes in the lobby and skylights in the staff clinical den.

Campus View Apartments – Entries & Corridors
Allendale, MI

r.o.i. Design was asked by Campus View to design common area interiors of the four oldest apartment buildings at their Allendale site, just yards from Grand Valley State University. Celebrating the 50-year-old buildings, the design included mid-century modern use of patterns, colors, and light fixtures. The apartment hallways leave little doubt where the entries are with a bold accent of color at each door.

In addition to the corridors, r.o.i. Design designed building signage for the site that blends with the architecture but again, has a bold retro look.

Van Haren Dentistry

Van Haren Dentistry needed a new home, outgrowing their office after 10 years of dental practice.

Their new office has improved patient spaces, including waiting, consult, and hygiene/operatory. It also has more efficient space for staff, including reception, lab, sterilization, and break room. Key features in this design include the pop of the color orange, use of a panelized wood tile, lobby and corridor ceiling details with edge lighting, as well as a friendly hospitality area with full height tile walls.

Not only did r.o.i. Design provide complete interior design services, we designed their new logo and designed the signage for the outside of the building. We also supported their process of procuring furniture.

During his first years of practice, Dr. Van Haren continued his education and certification to support the growth and expansion of services. For more about Van Haren Dentistry go to vanharendentistry.com
