Medema Endodontics

9039 N Rodgers Dr SE #4
Caledonia, MI 49316

Dr. Brent Medema’s attention to detail isn’t only focused on his patients’ teeth.

r.o.i. Design was introduced to Medema Endodontics through First Companies, who engaged us to design the interior of this space, which they then built-out and delivered in 2018. From that introduction we found a client who was interested in every aspect of the design, scrutinizing finishes and decisions, resulting in a wonderful product.

The clean look supports the surgical nature of the practice but isn’t so clinical that it ignores patient comforts.

Favorite details of the design include the lobby and reception ceiling and lighting details, the exam room corridor wall, and ceiling accent insets, as well as the overall color scheme.

Medema Endodontics is an expert practice with a focus on patient care, medical technology and continuous learning and practice improvements. For more about Medema Endodontics, medemaendo.com.

Wolverine Dermatology

1673 Gezon Pkwy SW
Wyoming, MI 49519

After 16 years of service in the United States Air Force, Dr. Ryan Freeland returned home to Michigan to open a dermatology practice with his sister, Kristen Tungate, as Practice Manager. Kristen leveraged Ryan’s love of the University of Michigan to influence his decision to name the practice Wolverine Dermatology and to use maize and blue as the basis for interior design.

The 7,500 square foot office was designed not only to reflect Dr. Freeland’s love of U of M but the state of Michigan as well. The Michigan-themed design includes an upscale lake house look complete with crisp white trim and nautical light fixtures. Other items include a stone wall inspired by Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and accents of actual Michigan Petoskey Stones. The site’s landscaping includes the Michigan State Tree, Eastern White Pines, and Michigan’s State Flower, Blossoming Apple Trees.

The architectural design was heavily influenced by bringing natural light through the entire space. This made for some interesting opportunities in ceiling and lighting details, including floating ceiling planes in the lobby and skylights in the staff clinical den.

Van Haren Dentistry

Van Haren Dentistry

Van Haren Dentistry

Van Haren Dentistry needed a new home, outgrowing their office after 10 years of dental practice.

Their new office has improved patient spaces, including waiting, consult, and hygiene/operatory. It also has more efficient space for staff, including reception, lab, sterilization, and break room. Key features in this design include the pop of the color orange, use of a panelized wood tile, lobby and corridor ceiling details with edge lighting, as well as a friendly hospitality area with full height tile walls.

Not only did r.o.i. Design provide complete interior design services, we designed their new logo and designed the signage for the outside of the building. We also supported their process of procuring furniture.

During his first years of practice, Dr. Van Haren continued his education and certification to support the growth and expansion of services. For more about Van Haren Dentistry go to vanharendentistry.com

Swan Orthodontics

Swan Orthodontics

Swan Orthodontics
Caledonia, Michigan

Swan Orthodontics vision for their new space was to create a happy, bright, and professional space that families enjoy coming to. Dr. Kathryn Swan is committed and energized by how their work shapes peoples lives, not just their teeth, and wanted the interior design to reflect that.
r.o.i. Design developed a “crisp” and reflective design that used pops of color and graphics. LED lights were strategically placed in bulkheads and engineered so staff could change the light colors as part of the celebration when patients completed their treatments.
Lobby and reception area is a fun space with lots to look at. A slushy machine was installed in the lobby area and the flavors are changed through the week.
The open clinic was divided by custom dividers that used simple acrylic with decorative film applied, to create patient privacy without full walls.
The brushing area sported fun graphics and blue glass pebble wall tile along with colorful benches and ottomans.
First Companies executed the space with great care and attention to details. Dixon Architecture was the architect of record and worked along side r.o.i. Design to fulfill the vision.

Shannon Orthodontics
Grandville and Plainwell, MI

Grandville: Shannon Orthodontics prides itself on its use of the latest research and technology and delivers an extremely friendly service. They want their customers to “achieve the smile they have always dreamed of”.
Tom Shannon and wife Kate researched other offices in the area and found our work at JCL Periodontics. Tom and Kate liked the character and personality we brought to that space and after initial meetings decided to engage us in the redesign of their Grandville office where we helped they with layout, interior finishes, lighting, signage, wall décor and furnishings.

Plainwell: Shannon understands the importance of brand and marketing.
They want all their offices to provide a uniform feel, so they could use their interiors in their advertising. They used their new spaces to create a video to promote their business.
Some of the interior elements that help carry the brand include the color scheme, the use of logo and signage, iconic furniture and wall art pieces.
We recognize that Shannon Ortho customers have many choices when it comes to orthodontics, and we want our customer to look as great as they make their patients feel!
