Charter Schools Eye to Excellence

It is never too late to go back to school. r.o.i. Design has been working with Robert Doornbos at RMD Architects, creating interiors for some of the charter schools he has designed in the last year. Our experience with Charter Schools teaches us that they appear to have highly passionate teams, with high academic goals for a focused community population. They care deeply about how their school environment looks and feels, and based on available budget, really want to make their spaces “A+” Black River Charter School, Holland, MI This is where...

Shannon Orthodontics Aligns its Office to Practice’s Innovation

Shannon Orthodontics prides itself on its use of the latest research and technology and delivers an extremely friendly service. They want their customers to “achieve the smile they have always dreamed of”. Shannon’s business practice far out-shown the interior of their offices. Hutchinson Anti-Vibration Systems Opens North American Innovation Center

Manufacturing giant Hutchinson Worldwide has one of their anti-vibration plants in Grand Rapids, MI and that location was selected to be the location for their North American Innovation Center, 616 Fab House. The facility includes a 100 year old factory that originally began as Corduroy Rubber. The historical nature of this plant was in part the reason it was selected as an innovation center as it showcases the historical presence of Hutchinson in the US. Through a competitive process, r.o.i. Design was selected as the design team to plan the...

Campus Bookstores and Retail Services Continue to Change

r.o.i. Design has been designing for retail for more than 20 years, but now that schools and universities have discovered their customers expect the same kinds of retail experiences on campus as they do in their communities, more than ever we find ourselves working for these institutions. On-campus stores are faced with new business challenges, and they have to be profitable in a time of change. Products: Unlike what the doomsayers predicted five years ago, books are still being sold in campus bookstores. But online competitors and used book...

Campus View Apartments Welcomes Students Back with a New Look

Campus View has been growing alongside Grand Valley State University for the last 50 years with a large inventory of apartments and town homes, and thousands of happy tenants. But as Grand Valley grows so do options for leasing and Campus View wanted to make their initial experience with potential new tenants reflect who they were more completely. r.o.i. Design was engaged to redesign the “customer experience” in their lobby and entry. Campus View has made continual investment in amenities but those investments aren’t always visible to...

Grand Valley University Foundation Creates Touch Screen Donor Recognition Exhibit

The Grand Valley University Foundation (GVUF) is the umbrella organization and recognition society for all who give to the University through annual giving, capital campaigns, special giving or planned giving. And while the steady growth of the University is apparent, the Shaping Our Future Campaign was a landmark. At the annual Enrichment Dinner in 2011, the foundation announced that not only did it meet the stretch goal of $75 million for the Shaping Our Future campaign, it exceeded it. Thanks to more than 17,000 donors, the foundation...

GVSU’s Fresh Food Co. Commons “Re-Freshed”

GVSU’s original “cafeteria” was built more than 40 years ago and is still the largest food service facility on campus. It feeds a lot of people but needed to respond to the changing campus and its customers. More seating capacity at Fresh Food Co. and upgraded finishes meant planning for a 2016 summer remodel. r.o.i. Design, who also designed the GVSU Laker Store in 2014 and its adjacent food court, was engaged by the University through Preferred Construction to create the design. Einstein Bros. Bagels was moved out to a different location...

Wish We Could Give More

r.o.i. Design has been blessed with more than 20 years of business and 100’s of customers. But sometimes at the end of the year, we wish we had more. More so we could give to all the non-profits we have worked for, supported and otherwise respected over the years. Our heartfelt greeting goes out to all these groups and hoping that in some small way our voice of support will make a difference and influence others to seek you out, learn how you love, and give the best gifts they can. This year especially on our hearts is a project that...

Holiday Decorating Where you Work: Couldn’t be Merrier!

The holidays bring out the best (and sometimes the worst) of the season. r.o.i. Design would like to share with you some of our “Do’s and Don’ts of Decorating Tips” for the work place. Do’s: Make your decorations fit your brand. Use the holiday to tell folks about who you are as a company. Bring in live plants and foliage! Decorate with holiday lights, within reason! Show the spirit of the season for a couple of weeks (unless you are a retail store, of course, where you have to sport decorations for six weeks!)...
